Amazing things in our sky

This morning I got up before the sun to go outside and look into the sky facing eat.  But sadly it was too cloudy to see what I was hoping to see.

For the next several days, if you look at the sky about an hour before sunrise you will be able to see Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars grouped together very close to the moon.  If you are very lucky (and have a telescope) you might be able to see Mercury.  Mercury will be farther away from the other planets, and it will be much less bright in the morning sky.

Oh, and if you happen to look out in the west in the evening, that beautiful bright 'star' you see is Venus.

If any of you are able to catch a glimpse of the planets, let the rest of the class know in a comment.

With the clouds and the rain this evening, I am thinking we won't be seeing much of Venus tonight.  Hopefully things will clear up by morning.
